The Crimson Passion cherry is a super sweet, dark red, dwarf bush cherry known for its high sugar content, reaching up to 22 Brix, making it excellent for fresh eating, jams, and baking; developed by the University of Saskatchewan, it's a hardy, self-fertile shrub with large, juicy fruit that's easy to pit. 

Key Characteristics

  • Brix Level: Very high, around 20-22° Brix (similar to sweet cherries).
  • Taste: Sweet with a pleasant tang, combining sweet and sour notes.
  • Fruit: Large (around 6g), dark red with crimson flesh, and an easy-to-remove pit.
  • Plant Type: A compact, non-suckering shrub or small tree, reaching 5-8 feet.
  • Hardiness: Extremely cold-hardy (to -40°F).
  • Pollination: Self-fertile, meaning one plant is enough for fruit.
  • Uses: Ideal for fresh eating, baking, making juice, and jams.
