Prunus cerasus ‘Montmorency’ Cherry Tree
One of the most widely grown tart cherries, Montmorency is a classic choice for pies, jams, and preserves. The tree produces bright red cherries with firm yellow flesh and a bold, tangy flavor that bakers appreciate. In late spring, branches are covered with clusters of white blossoms, followed by a generous harvest of fruit in early summer.
Hardiness Zone 4–7. Typically grows 8–18 feet tall with a spread of 10–20 feet. Best planted in full sun with well-drained soil. This self-fertile variety will produce fruit on its own, though planting more than one tree can help improve yields. A reliable and productive tree for home orchards, with fruit that attracts both people and wildlife when harvest season arrives.
