Baptisia 'Lunar Eclipse' is a tough, long-lived perennial with a vase-shaped, shrub-like habit, growing 3-4 feet tall and wide with blue-green foliage. It is celebrated for its unique bicolor flowers, which emerge pale yellow-cream, age to lavender-lilac, and eventually turn deep purple-blue, creating a captivating two-toned, "eclipsed" effect in late spring.

  • Flowers: The 15-inch spikes produce lupine-like, pea-like blooms in shades of pale yellow, cream, and lavender-violet, creating a unique color-changing effect over 2-3 weeks in May/June.
  • Foliage: Attractive bluish-green, lupine-like leaves on sturdy, silvery-green stems.
  • Size: Mature plants reach 3–4 feet high and wide.
  • Growth Habit: Upright, vase-shaped mound.

  • Special Features: Attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds; provides attractive black seed pods in late summer.
